Die Gigabyte 870A-UD3 bietet sich im Mainboard Test für alle an, die ein neues AMD System aufsetzen. Passend zu den günstigen AMD CPUs kommt auch das Motherboard mit einem kleinen Preisschild daher. Die Leistung entspricht dem zu erwartenden Ergebnissen des AMD 870/SB850 Chipsatzgespanns. Die Mehrkerner werden also nicht ausgebremst. Etwas mehr Leistung hätte es aber sein können.
 
Dieser kleine Wehrmutstropfen wird durch eine große Ausstattung wieder gut gemacht. Zwei PCIe Anschlüsse mit 16 Lanes ermöglichen Crossfire Spielereien oder zumindest Flexibilität beim Einbau. USB 3.0 und sogar sechsfaches SATA 6 GBit/s sind an Bord und ein sehr guter Grundstein der Schnittstellenpalette. Doppeltes eSATA rundet das Paket ab. Leider sind die eSATA Anschlüsse nicht optimal angebunden, so dass die vollen Übertragungsraten nicht ausgeschöpft werden können. Ein Recovery Tool, das dem Mainboard beiliegt, ist ein besonderes Schmankerl, das auch im Krisenfall alle Einstellungen und das System als Ganzes rettet.

Weiterer Pluspunkt ist die mächtige und durchdachte Lüftersteuerung. Damit kann man noch einige zusätzliche MHz aus der CPU herauskitzeln, ohne den Chip in die ewigen Jagdgründe zu schicken oder im Lüfterlärm zu ersticken.

Der Preis ist für das Gesamtpaket sehr gut.  Wer mehr Geld ausgeben möchte, bekommt z.B. beim hauseigenen Konkurrenten Gigabyte 890FXA-UD7 noch mehr Leistung und Ausstattung. Nötig ist dies jedoch nicht, denn laut der Tests bietet das Gigabyte 870A-UD3 alles Wesentliche.
